Change Log for January 2014

The following changes or updates were applied to OpenSRS Services in the month of January, 2014:

Domain Service:

  • Storefront: Processing fee has increased from 6% to 9%
  • SRS: Launched registrant validation
  • SRS: Added additional fields to the WHOIS output
  • SRS: Introduced a $3 price for WHOIS Privacy per domain, per year
  • SRS: Email address formats now comply with ICANN specifications  (RFC 5322)
  • SRS: Postal code formats now comply with ICANN specifications and must match the applicable format for the specified country or territory 
  • SRS: Sunrise orders in the new control panel available for the following TLDs:
  • ccTLDs: Removed 60 day transfer out hold for .IT
  • SRS: Additional bug fixes for the new control panel

OpenSRS Email Service

  • Webmail:
    • Fixed: Issues when pressing the back button in Basic view when using IE
    • Fixed: When clicking the last message on a page, the next link would not appear in Basic view when using IEAdditional bug fixes
  • Mail Administration Console:
    • New: Streamlined and condensed user interface so more information fits on the screen
    • New: Simplified actions for the bulk migration tool, making it easier to perform migrations
    • New: New search filtering and sorting options that allow you to view customized data more easily
    • New: The Bulk Create and Bulk Delete functions have been moved to a new "Bulk Actions" section. We have also introduced a new "Bulk Modify" option, allowing you to change the attributes of multiple accounts at once
    • New: Restoring email and contacts has been refactored and improved
    • New: Status messages when performing operations now include more details and options
    • New: New users, and any users that change their password via the Administration Centre or Webmail will now have their passwords hashed with BCRYPT-6 instead of MD5. There is no change to existing users.


  • WHMCS plugins updated to version 1.1 fixing a domainsync.php issue

Other bug fixes, and updates to OpenSRS systems that aren't noticeable to resellers are promoted on a weekly basis. This may include updates to support changes made by registries, or other suppliers to their systems. We're always working to improve performance and stability of our systems.
