Revoke or refund an SSL certificate

This article will outline how to cancel an SSL certificate and receive a refund during the cancellation period. 

Who can request an SSL certificate cancellation?

OpenSRS will only process cancellation requests from our resellers. If you are a certificate holder, please submit your cancellation request to the company you purchased the certificate from. 

When can I receive a refund on an SSL certificate?

You can request a refund within 30 days of the date of fulfillment for Comodo, GeoTrust, Symantec, Thawte, and most Trustwave certificates. Please note however that refunds are not available for Trustwave EV certificates.

Cancelling an SSL certificate that has not been issued

SSL certificates that have not yet been issued can be cancelled inside the Reseller Control Panel. Simply navigate to Trust, click on the order awaiting approval, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click Cancel.

Cancelling an SSL certificate that has already been issued

 

GeoTrust, Thawte, and Symantec SSL Certificates

Follow these steps to cancel an SSL certificate from these certificate issuers:

Step 1: Navigate to the self-service reissuance portal.

 

Step 2: Enter the supplier order ID, tech email address used on the SSL order, and click Continue. You can find all of this information on the SSL order page inside of the Reseller Control Panel.

 

Step 3: Click Request Access. You will receive an email with login credentials for the portal.

 

Step 4:  Click on the link in the email to login to the portal.

 

Step 5: Click Cancel Order.

 

 

Step 6: Confirm cancellation by clicking I Approve.

 

 

At this time, your certificate order has been cancelled. Please allow up to 48 hours for refunds to be processed and reflected in your OpenSRS reseller account.

 

Trustwave and Comodo Certificates

For Trustwave and Comodo certificates, you should contact the OpenSRS support team for assistance in cancelling the certificate. These requests are processed manually. Please provide our support team with the following information:

  • Your reseller username
  • Supplier order ID
  • Common Name

Refunds from these providers are typically reflected in your OpenSRS account within five business days.
